About Us

Welcome to the Dorset Construction Training Forum.  We are a group of construction based companies who have come together to access quality training at discounted prices.

Training is a necessary, but sometimes costly, part of business.  Therefore, our aim is to ensure the members can rely on training through reputable providers that have been sourced by our Training Co-ordinator, Lisa Lawrence.  Lisa is able to negotiate discounts with the training providers due to the volume of training that is put through the group and pass this to the members.

We are a not for profit organisation and all membership fees are put back into the group.

The Directors of DCTF

  • Maria Seabright Chairperson & Director

Maria has extensive experience in the construction industry and works for Greendale Construction Limited as their Finance /HR Director. Maria works extremely closely with the local colleges and schools,   promoting the industry, training and apprenticeships.

“It’s important for like-minded companies to come together and share best practice, along with training together to bring down the costs to the member companies.”

Maria is also a CITB Construction Ambassador.

  • Mandy Hoare
    Mandy Hoare Director

Amanda is a director of A & G Bricklaying and has worked in construction since the mid 1990s.  Prior to that she worked in banking for 17 years.  She is a CITB Construction Ambassador and has attended several school’s careers events because she feels that it is important to encourage school leavers into the construction industry and to make them aware of the many career paths available.

Amanda is also supportive of ensuring staff are suitably trained within the industry.

  • Liam Byrnes
    Liam Byrnes Director

With over 2 decades of experience in Construction Health and Safety, licensed asbestos removal and facility management, Liam has worked as the Health and Safety Manager at JM Scully Limited based in Wimborne since 2015. He was appointed as Vice Chair of the DCTF in 2019, and also volunteers for the Executive Committee of the South Coast IOSH Branch. Liam serves as a CITB Construction Ambassador to support local schools and colleges.

“I have always been determined to approach my own training needs with enthusiasm, and continue to benefit from any training I receive. Competence has always gone hand in hand with a healthy and safe working environment. As a father of three myself, I recognise the need to invest in the next generation to ensure we continue to meet growing demands on an ageing workforce during the challenging times faced by our industry.”

  • Sandra Lewis Director

Sandra Lewis has been involved with construction since 1991 when she joined the family firm HC Lewis and Co Ltd, Beaminster.  The company became a member of the DCTF in 1996 and we have used them for training staff on a regular basis.

“When the group decided to go ‘independent’ I was delighted to become a Director. I believe that skilled staff is a safe workforce and if training can be obtained at a reasonable cost so much the better.”

  • Lisa Lawrence
    Lisa Lawrence Training Group Co-ordinator

Lisa has worked in education and training for 17 years, the majority of that time being involved in NVQ’s and Apprenticeships.  She has worked closely with construction and engineering employers through local further education establishments to identify and deliver training.  She is also an assessor and IQA for Management and Team Leading.
